๐จArrest Following Burglary in Hampstead |
||
|
At around 3pm on FRIDAY 14 AUGUST 2026, a resident in Hampstead was working upstairs in his home when he heard loud banging coming from downstairs.
Concerned that something was wrong, he went to investigate and discovered an intruder inside the property. Putting his safety first, the resident immediately left the address and called 999.
Officers arrived quickly and surrounded the property. A man was located inside and was arrested after attempting to leave with bags containing property belonging to the resident. Several items were recovered and returned.
The man was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, criminal damage, attempting to assault an emergency worker and possession of cannabis. Further enquiries remain ongoing.
๐ This was a great example of a resident doing exactly the right thing by getting to safety and calling 999, combined with a swift and professional police response which led to an arrest and the recovery of property. Help Protect Your Home๐ Keep doors and accessible windows locked, even when you are at home. ๐ก Consider installing outdoor lighting, CCTV or a video doorbell. ๐ Be alert to suspicious behaviour and report concerns via 101 or met.police.uk. ๐ If you discover an intruder in your home, prioritise your safety, leave the property if possible and call 999 immediately. Do not confront them.
Remember, burglaries can happen during the day as well as at night. Staying vigilant and reporting suspicious activity helps keep our communities safe.
